Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

 

 So earlier this year samsung released the rather bloody brilliant galaxy a52 5g which turned out to be one of the best mid-range mobiles of 2021. but now this phone's been violently elbowed in the ribs and kicked in the crotch by this we blighter the freshvue galaxy a52s 5g which upgrades the performance and once again serves up a 120 hertz amoled screen beefy camera tech and a water resistant design over just 400 quid or just a smidge over 400 quid to be precise 409 pounds here in blighty direct from samsung so let's whip the galaxy a52s5 geon out of the box take you on a full-on tour and for more on the latest and greatest tech please do poke subscribe ending that notifications bell cheers. 

So let's start as always with what you actually get in the box besides the galaxy a52 5g and the good news is you do get a charger chucked in there but sadly it's not all good news as i will touch on in the battery section and you've got yourself a type c usb cable as well although it's possibly the tickiest tiniest usb cable i've ever seen bundled with a smartphone and that is sadly a lot there's no bundled condom case or any shenanigans like that so now let's check out that galaxy a52s 5g which as you'll see from just a quick squint sports a very similar design to the original galaxy a52 5g you once again have a plastic back end and yes it does feel very plastic indeed and it's a shame that there's no cover bundled with the a52 s5g because i get the feel this will probably scratch up fairly easily in everyday life but this is the mint model you can also pick it up in a number of different hues including black white or the very vibrant violet or to give them samsung's official color names this is awesome mint you've also got awesome black awesome white or awesome violet awesome are they awesome well i do really like this mint color it's a nice subtle hue but still quite bright uh you know adds a bit of happiness and jolliness to your miserable everyday existence i guess not sure i'd describe it as awesome but it's definitely pretty decent pretty decent mint that camera chassis is fairly flush with the surface only juts ever so slightly so you shouldn't have any problem using this phone when it's lying flat on its back on a desk or whatever the engine is also plastic and very very shiny indeed and nicely contoured as well so the samsung galaxy a52 s5g does feel quite comfortable to clutch and besides the plastic back end you've got a pretty rugged design here gorilla glass 5 up front to help prevent scratching and ip67 water and dust resistance still quite rare at this price point as for your sim tray situation where you got spares for two sims at once otherwise that second sim slot can be used for micro sd memory cards now the great thing about samsung's budget e and mid-range smartphones is you basically get the same one ui experience as you do on those super expensive s21 flagships like the zed flips all that shenanigans as usual this adds in bugger loads of bonus features that you won't find in just a standard stock android smartphone all of samsung's own ilk and of course you get all of the usual samsung apps chucked on here as well many of which do unfortunately basically duplicate stuff you already get on android like some samsung pay duplicates google pay you've got your own internet browser your own app store you're on smart home app and of course good old bixby how we love it as well we can basically choose which one is your favorite and then stick to that and i've got to see i do still like some of the additional bonus features as well the likes of bixby routines is very very good if you're a bit of an if if this then that's fun you got some great gesture support in there as well and of course the fantastic one-handed mode as well which occasionally takes a couple of goes to get right but really really handy because it's a 6.5 incher can be a bit tricky to use with one thumb otherwise and the galaxy a52s 5g also supports that fantastic samsung knox security suite as well with all the encryption shenanigans and what have you as for the biometrics well you've got an in-display fingerprint sensor it's an optical scanner so far touchwood seems pretty responsive you know it's not the fastest acting around but i'd rather it did its job properly took a little bit more time and that is backed by some facial recognition as well if for whatever reason your mitts are a bit greasy or around gloves or something and again not the swiftest around but certainly seems to do the job nicely and uh doesn't work when your eyes are closed which is great as i mentioned before you do have microsd memory card support to expand the storage but you do get 128 gigs of space on there to begin with so plenty to fill up with all of your random crap and just like the original a52 5g the samsung

 Galaxy a52 s5g once again sports a 6.5 inch full hd plus amoled display and once again unsurprisingly given this as a sammy blower it's an absolutely stunning panel you've got 800 nits of brightness on that maximum level it's certainly eye-punchingly bright when you bump it right up so absolutely perfect for outdoors use the display colors are set to vivid by default and oh yeah they will slap you right in the face when you're watching a vibrant bit of animation or something that really makes use of it if you prefer you can scale up back to more natural life-like realistic visuals instead it's no hdr stream and support for services like netflix but the contrast is still really really stunning to be fair because it's an oled panel pixels can shut off those blacks do look really really black and you can't tinker with the white balance if you like but i found that the whites were perfectly crisp and neutral looking on the default settings as for the audio well it is a stereo speaker setup here on the galaxy a52s 5g but is it not crap well let's boost up the volume see if it's any good premium including a 144 hertz or led display. a

 A 108 megapixel primary camera sensor and yeah i'm certainly happy enough with that it's a pretty strong output from both speakers so even if you muffle that bottom one still got plenty of uh of your pumping out of that top one right there nice and loud on that top volume as well clarity is not fantastic uh but of course if you want to get some music or something on the go you do at least have a bit headphone jack action that you can always rely on and that comes complete with support for dolby atmos uh if you want a bit of that on the go as well which can automatically tweak the audio output depending on what you're up to otherwise you can manually do it yourself .

Now performance and the samsung galaxy a52s 5g is powered by the fresh new qualcomm snapdragon 778 g5g as also found in the motorola moto edge 20. that spikes by six gigs of ram and the fact that you've got a 120 hertz refresh rate on this gorgeous display means that everything does feel silky silky smooth if you're a benchmarking fan well rubber pants at the ready we've got some hot geek bench 5 scores here for you a little bit under what we've got with the modular moto edge 20 which of course uses the same chipset but very solid indeed but of course to properly test out the samsung galaxy a52 s5g let's get a bit of gaming on the go and because the galaxy a52 s5g is a pretty capable mid-ranger let's jump straight in with a bit of gentian impact while you are gaming at any point you can drag down this notifications bar and get the game booster feature on the go it starts in quite a few features gives.

You an idea of how much battery life you've got left if you continue gaming all afternoon long so it should do the job quite nicely you can monitor the temperature the memory and if you are playing a really intensive title like gentile impact you can get the priority mode on the go as well which dedicates all the resources to that game gives you the best possible experience so i've got a good bit of gention on the go and gotta say it wasn't the smoothest experience around by any means i did find it was slightly smoother on that moto edge 20 uh possibly because it wasn't bogged down with the samsung galaxy one ui uh launcher as well uh but still a more than playable experience on those sort of medium detail settings you know the odd little jedi side was a relatively stable frame rate that's for sure nice strong visuals of course once again from that gorgeous oled panel and the touch response rate was perfect as well so absolutely no problems uh with your swipes and porks immediately registering on screen i was also reassuring that the samsung galaxy a52 s5g stayed relatively cool during a fairly long session as well so i will be testing out the gaming even more for my in-depth review but so far so very good and yes as the 5g part of the slightly clunky name does suggest you do have full built in 5g support courtesy of that snapdragon 778 as well so that's great news if you want to be the future proof of connectivity as for your battery life well it's a 4 500 milliamp cell crammed inside of the ear 52s 5g i've had about 20 drop off with a good bit of video streaming and gentian impact action plenty of on screen time uh so touchwood should hopefully see through a full day that 778g is certainly an energy-efficient chipset so all good but i will of course be testing out in depth i'll be using this as my full-time phone for my in-depth review suddenly things are very much not impressive at all when it comes to charging up the bugger again because the galaxy a52 s5g only supports 25 watt charging certainly not a patch on some rivals around this sort of price point and even worse even though you do get an adapter bundled in the box it's only a 15 watt adapter so you can't even get that maximum charging speed out of it anywho uh let's move on to the camera tech and the galaxy 52 s5g seems to sport pretty much the exact same hardware as the older a52 so it's a 64 megapixel primary sensor with built-in optical image stabilization as well to help you get a nice blur free shot even if your hand seems to be moving around a lot and as you can see there you've got usual scene optimizer tool as well which just automatically tweaks the photo output to match whatever you're shooting and the a52s seems to support all the usual bonus samsung camera modes including good old single take how we love it you've got a night mode you've got a macro mode you've got a portrait mode you've got food if you want to shoot your sandwich before you actually eat the bloody thing and you've got a pro mode as well if you want to tinker around with likes the iso levels the brightness levels all that good stuff and there is also a fun board if you want to inject a bit of extra fun into your life i don't know about you but i am definitely already having so much fun so much fun it's definitely time to slap on uh the old rubber pants again oh my god that's less fun that's just creepy and i mean come on you know you would uh if anyone's still watching then thanks for sticking around through all of that you've also got a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens that you can swap to for more pulled back wider view of the action of course naturally and in case you were wondering the final two lenses making up the quad lens setup here on the back end of the galaxy a52 s5g or a basic five megapixel macro shooter and a five megapixel depth sensor and yeah i'll be thoroughly testing out that camera tech for my in-depth review but here's just a few basic sample shots that i snapped around the homestead uh before slapping together this video just to give you a quick idea of what the camera is capable of as for video you're shooting full hd at 30 frames per second by default but you can bump that up to 60 frames per second otherwise jump it all the way up to good old glorious 4k and yes because i love taking selfies so much i will be thoroughly testing out that 32 megapixel selfie shooter centrally positioned right there at the top end of the screen as well just to see if that's good and here's another sample photo of me putting on a big old cheesy grin so it looks like i'm actually really enjoying life instead of being rotten to the core with utter despair and hatred of everything and there you are my pretties that is the samsung galaxy a52s 5g still a clunky name but it seems like a solid smartphone thrown through absolutely loves the original a52 so i have no doubt in my mind that i'm going to enjoy this one as well with that boosted performance so you can get a bit of uh gentian impact and the likes on the go if you want yeah my sims already in there so expect my full frank review at some point next week be
